The privacy and security of your data is extremely important to us. First, know that FollowUpThen is in the business of helping people become more productive. We are not in the advertising business, information harvesting, data brokering, etc.
Message bodies of our followups are stored in 128-bit encrypted format, with data backed up on a regular basis on AWS with multiple layers of redundancy. We automatically delete email contents a few weeks after the followup has been sent, as well as your recipient’s email address.
We even have a “privacy mode” whereby you can set FollowUpThen to never store message bodies or attachments – only the email subject and headers. You can find this on your settings page. (Note that data is temporarily stored in transit even while in privacy mode. It is encrypted and deleted as soon as the data is processed)
We make use of anonymous data from emails such as the type of mail client being used, as well as message headers so that we know to whom the followup should be sent. When an email is forwarded we may parse out the “—forwarded email—” block at the top of a forwarded email in order to send a more useful followup. Also, for support and debugging, we save the subjects of past followup emails in an unencrypted, searchable format.
